Yikes!  the short access "road" to the mine/lake was the roughest, steepest section of the whole 450km trip, in the last coupla kms, for us. where am I?!  The Colorado Trail??!! most of "the fences" near the mine were made with old tires from the mine trucks crazy mine/lake viewing platform  I guess we are not swimming.  welcome! The trail was well maintained, smooth, and ATV-free till after the Lock. Then it was rougher, and we were back on the Hastings Heritage Trail. Rougher gravel, some washboards, etc. The Lower Trent Trail was smooth, by comparison ... road crossing, gates, signs  many spots where it looked like a tunnel  crossing the Trent River, just before crossing the canal  looking back, just after crossing the canal swing bridge. Nice conversation with a guy on an old mtb (his wife pictured) He said "I finally got the old bikes out, this year. Thinking about ranging further afield." We told him about our route. And I swear! he was on the same bike I had, 30 years ago, my first mtb. An old 26" wheel Norco. Memories! That bike was eventually stolen, in Kingston - the bike theft capital of Canada!!  North of the Lock, and  back on the rail trail But the Hastings Heritage Trail  And back to bigger, rougher gravel And ATVs, and, o

Last day biking the COLT 2020 for us. The Motel 6 in Trenton was Juussst a little ... "more" than I would have liked. But there it is. Quick stop at Timmy's for a Double Double and a bagel sandwich And then on up the Lower Trent Trail and to the Hastings Heritage Trail (mostly) Kinda 1 or 2% uphill, upstream, all day There was nowhere to "not be in a car or truck" so we sat on the grassy knoll And watched the Timmy's drive-thru traffic idle by ... 5 black pickup trucks in a row! followed by 2 more then a white pickup truck ruined "the streak" sign another sign  more signs very small font sign well maintained trail in this section had some flashbacks to the K&P Trail in Kingston along this section  smooth sailing, with a tailwind

Hot Humid Ready for this jail break, Heidi? Swim #1, Wicklow Beach Hot, humid, and big clouds in the distance  Lunch in the shade, post-swim #2, Presqu'ile Provincial Park, Beach #1 Trent-Severn Waterway, looking back, as we are about to head in on the canal path. We would end up doing a u-turn. Big, wide puddles, mud, such clay sticky mud. Yuck!  Yeah. 6km of this? I don't think so.  Looking back, as we made our escape... OK. Back at the swing bridge over the waterway "This road is Not Assumed!"  So hot.  I wear we were "traipsing" in Middleton  At this point Let's call it "Traipsing in Trenton", shall we?  Heidi leading us through the trails, into town  Nice, in the shade  Hot, and almost there A quick look at the map of the city, on the phone  Done and
